If you're a teenager, there is still room to play! Our therapists always have fidgets to help keep hands busy and bodies regulated, but you will also get to use the sand tray to help process challenging experiences in a different way, or use the paints/markers to express emotions that are hard to talk about, or just have a plain old conversation. You get to decide what your process looks like.

Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy combines clinical hypnosis with the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy model to help clients address unhelpful and/or unwanted beliefs and thoughts. The main goal is to create more helpful, healthy beliefs as well as challenging and removing the unwanted ones. Using clinical hypnosis can allow clients to integrate helpful core beliefs and solutions through an unconscious learning process: clients are able to accept beneficial direction and strategies while their conscious thoughts are suspended.

This method of therapy calls upon clients to remain active in between sessions as well during the sessions themselves. As with any type of therapy, meaningful long-term success is defined by the client and requires ongoing collaboration between the client and therapist. Additionally, building up supports outside of the therapy room is essential while the client is undergoing this transformative work because challenging long-held beliefs often takes a great deal of uncomfortable work.

Cognitive Behavioural hypnotherapy can help with a vast range of client issues and goals. Fundamentally, any problem that has a belief component can be successfully addressed. Although not a complete list of concerns, these are some examples of what Shannon may recommend cognitive hypnotherapy for:

Addiction (substance or process)
Anger management
Anxiety
Assertiveness and confidence
Depression
Grief and loss
Stress management
Trauma, PTSD, C-PTSD

EMDR therapy is founded on the basis that our emotional well-being is interwoven with our physical (somatic) state. My name is Lauren (she/her) and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist working with youth (12+) and adults. My primary goal as a therapist is to create a warm, caring, secure working relationship for clients to feel safe, supported, and empowered to explore their emotional experiences. I love supporting clients in cultivating self- awareness and insight and enhancing perspectives and tools for navigating life’s challenges. As a therapist, I listen sensitively, attentively, and compassionately, and offer counselling that is honest, sincere, and aligned with client values. Together, we collaborate, and work towards change that is personally meaningful to the client and actionable within their immediate life context.   Coming from a career as a professional dancer and Pilates teacher, I take a holistic lens on therapy that appreciates the nuances of the clients’ mindbody connection and prioritizes embodied living. I am passionate about working with children, teens, young adults, and the young at heart! With my younger clients, I typically work from a play-based approach which means our work is done through play! We get to create and use our imaginations to help sort through those experiences that may have been challenging for us. This can look like painting or drawing, creating scenes in the sand tray, engaging in dramatic play with puppets, or plushies, or even ourselves!

With adults, I work from an integrative approach, which means we work together to use the tools that fit best for you. Therapy is work, but it is also collaborative. It only makes sense that we would engage in ways that you can connect with and derive meaning from, while coming from a place of relationship.

Regardless of age, when you’re in the room with me you get to decide what you need. I believe that you know what’s best for you and have the innate abilities necessary to make the changes you want to make. I am here to support, encourage, and provide connection with you along the way.

Coming to therapy is a decision, and often not an easy one to make. I congratulate you for making it this far! That tells me that you’ve already begun to reflect on your needs and might be thinking about taking the next step toward making a change in your life. When you’re ready, I would be honoured to support you in taking that next step.

Hello! My name is Natalka Lewis and I am a counsellor who believes in supporting individuals and families by meeting them where they are at, drawing out their strengths and by offering a safe and warm space where people can be their authentic selves. I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) and I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. I practice from a strengths-based & trauma-informed lens. In therapy, I use an integrated approach where I draw from several models of therapy based on client needs including Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, Somatic Therapy, Play Therapy and others. I believe in a collaborative approach to counselling where you, as the client, are involved in making treatment decisions, setting goals. Together, we will build a strong therapeutic relationship that will empower you, support you and offer areas for growth. Your mind and your body are connected; I can provide a holistic approach to helping you navigate life’s challenges and move towards a healthy & balanced life.

Though I have a range of experience with many demographics and areas of concern, I am particularly drawn to working with families, adolescents and children as well as young adults who are transitioning into adulthood. I transitioned into the field of counselling after a first-career in dance education where I formed my love and passion for working with kids and adolescents. I am a kid at heart and my experiences have taught me so much about child development and how to communicate with kids/youth. I am a neurodiversity affirming therapist and I offer lived experience and tools for kids and adults with ADHD. In addition to my training and education as a counsellor, I have an extensive dance/arts background. I also enjoy working as a counsellor with artists and athletes on their mind-body connection and improving their mental health in order to improve their sport and craft. I understand the intricacies of early-specialization sports/activities and the demands on the artists and athletes of today.

I believe that we are all creative beings regardless of our personality, background, or current state of life. I am here to help you discover yourself, explore your experiences and navigate emotions using whichever form of creative expression feels right for you.

I am passionate about using art as a therapy modality. Countless times, I have witnessed its strength as a healing tool with a variety of clients. I believe that we are all “artists” – it doesn’t matter if you love to create or have never picked up any kind of art material! There is a place for everyone in art therapy, as we all have the potential for expressing ourselves creatively in some way. In our work together we may draw, paint, work with clay, build things, create a comic book, look at pictures, visualize images, listen to music, knit, write, or talk… the options are endless and completely unique to you! Art can provide a language to describe feelings, thoughts and life experiences that are hard to put into words. The act of creation can also be deeply relaxing and calming, which can help to ease conversation and bring a sense of comfort to the therapy space.

With children and teens, I integrate art, games and play to tell stories, explore emotions, and connect internal and external experience. I highlight the child’s strengths and find opportunities for them to develop and thrive using their own imagination and skills.

Many adults believe they’re unsuited to art therapy, but I promise you this isn’t true. Your needs are most important to me. With adults, we use whichever combination of verbal and creative expression feels most comfortable for you. We work together to explore emotions and life situations and reach your therapeutic goals.

I work mainly from a client-centered, solution-focused approach, meaning that your health and well-being are the most important to me and I value connection and trust in our therapeutic relationship. I believe that humans are innately resilient, and I will always be watching for your strengths and capabilities. I also have education in the areas of trauma, narrative therapy, attachment and other integrative approaches which we can tailor to best fit your personal needs.

My name is Emily (she/her) and I am passionate about finding peace and balance in life’s contradictions. I help clients to embrace that change is both constant and inevitable, and that opposites can coexist and be integrated to bring us closer to our truths. I am committed to helping you navigate life’s challenges by cultivating a space where you can strive for more: more joy, more self-compassion, more love, more patience, more calmness, and more fulfilment, while also accepting and celebrating who you are now and how you’re showing up today. I approach the therapeutic process as a collaborative journey, meeting you wherever you are at, while also establishing a foundation for achieving both short-term and long-term goals.

Grounded in curiosity and exploration, I pull from a variety of therapeutic approaches, making our work together adaptable to fit your personal needs and goals. I have worked in both public and private spaces and have gratefully walked alongside a diverse range of individuals, couples, and families through their respective journeys to wellness, healing, growth, and transformation. We will use Attachment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, EMDR, and Narrative Therapy to accomplish your goals and beyond. I guide people through past, present, and future challenges, using desire for change as a tool to more deeply understand ourselves, our relationships to others, and the world around us.

Welcome to therapy—it’s ugly and it’s beautiful, and even though those things don’t go together, they totally go together.

My name is Courtney and I am a systemic counsellor providing services to individuals, couples, and families. As a trauma informed therapist, I work mainly from the lens of Attachment Therapy sometimes drawing from other modalities. Some of these other modalities include, but are not limited to, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Satir Experiential Therapy. The model(s) used in my work as a counsellor is tailored directly to the individual and their presenting concerns. I believe the most important first step to successful therapy is in the development and safety of the relationship built with your counsellor. I hope to be a counsellor who you can feel heard by, who learns to understand you, and who you feel safe expressing your inner workings to. You are the expert of your own life, as a counsellor I simply meet you where you are at. Therapy is an avenue to exploring, embracing, and embodying change. It is helpful in many ways including those times we may need support, understanding, or simply an ear to hear. I believe that people are resilient, and capable. Together we can work to explore opportunities for growth, change, and healing.

I work with adults and couples. I bring a strong level of expertise particularly to those who have struggled with addiction and trauma; whether you are the individual struggling in these areas, or you are a loved one who has been trying to help. You may find you are exhausted and confused by the time you arrive here, often minimizing the courage it took for you to ask for help. I aim to affirm this courage and nurture hope.

The individualized therapeutic plan we collaborate on together will be reflective of your unique strengths and values and will help you to identify and navigate toward your needs and goals. My respectful and compassionate encouragement helps you to be curious about unhelpful patterns of behaviour that might have originated from a necessary place of protection, but which are now no longer serving you. Challenging and letting go of those old notions to make space for empowering, life-enhancing behaviours is possible, and you do not have to do this alone!

The work we do may draw on interventions stemming from cognitive behaviour therapy including dialectical behaviour therapy, as well as positive psychology interventions and psychoeducational strategies to increase self-awareness, self-compassion, and empowerment, as well as emotional regulation. Where situations warrant trauma-focused therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and/or Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction Therapy may also be used.
